Well we're at 9 weeks and counting! :) Lorelai had her 2 month b-day this last Tuesday, and Erick and I can't believe how fast the last two months have gone! She is amazing though, and becomes more and more fun to take care of as the days go by. She smiles full on now, and it's awesome to talk to her and have her bust one out on you. And she coos back to you when you talk to her now, telling you all sorts of her thoughts. She's fairly predictable too with her eating and sleeping schedule, she has set her own rhythm, and she takes little one hour naps all day long in between her feedings which occur about every 3 hours. She sleeps most of the night now, usually getting up at 2 and 5 for feedings and then waking up for the day at 8am. Her Dr. said that she just needs to gain one more pound and then I can start trying to phase out that 2 o'clock feeding, as she will be able to sleep 8 hours without eating. I don't see myself being very successful with that until probably February, as December and January are going to be full of changes with us visiting family for Christmas and then moving to our next duty station, but who knows...maybe she'll surprise me and phase it out herself! :)
Her Dr. appointment went great. She is 11 lbs even, 23 and 1/4 inches long, and her skull circumference is 38.25 cm...which puts her in the 90th percentile for height, 50th percentile for weight, and 25th percentile for her skull. She's beautiful and healthy and happy, and the Dr. said that I was doing a great job....lol which of course I hear from my mom and sisters and friends all the time, but it was nice to hear the Dr. say it...lol made it a little bit easier to believe as she is unbiased towards me personally. I don't know that she is going to be a very shy child, she was so great at the appointment, charming all the nurses and her Dr. with her smiles and her cooing! She let them poke and prod her and do all sorts of things to her without a fuss, that is until the shots, which of course were painful, but she calmed down pretty quickly with a little love. She's very curious about everything and is always looking at things and people, and it's great because she's so alert, you can see her working everything out behind her eyes.
Anyway...enough bragging about Lorelai! :) Erick and I still don't know where we're going to be stationed, we're hoping to find out next week, but we'll see. I promise as soon as we find out I'll let y'all know. A little over two weeks until we head to Utah, and we're excited to see my family, though not looking forward to leaving Erick. So thats a little update on out lives for the moment.
Posted a few pictures from this week so you all can see her. Enjoy!
love,
Jen

I know...I'm a little bit late this week, and I don't have much in the way of pictures, but I do have a short video I took of L this morning so...hopefully that will satisfy all of your cravings for a little while!
This week was crazy...of course there is always drama going on in my life...most of it centering around Lorelai now! This week was all about feeding her....she weened herself this week, and what an experience that was! I've been going back and forth between breast and formula feeding her, couldn't quite make up my mind what I wanted to do so I've been doing a mix for about the last month. And also, I went back onto BC this month because, well I really don't have a desire to pregnant again within the next year! And my Dr. told me that it could potentially dry me up, but that was a risk I was willing to take, partially because I was still leaning towards formula feeding anyway.
Well earlier this week L just stopped eating from the breast. I tried for a day and a half to get her to eat but she kept refusing, so I would give her bottles and she wolfed those down. So then I decided to pump and go that way, and did that for a day but I wasn't able to pump enough for a full feeding and was having to mix formula in with the breast milk so, by Wednesday night, I had decided, well I guess now is the time. So she's had nothing but formula since Wednesday night, and let me tell you, it's been one heck of a week end! She was fussy most of the day on Thursday, didn't sleep a wink Thursday night, which is abnormal for her, and then yesterday was pretty much constant crying. Of course I was in pain from weening and cranky from lack of sleep, so we've both been pretty miserable until today. Thank goodness Erick has had three days off at the end of this week, so even though I'm sure at moments he wished he could have been at work, he was a big help to me during this transition over to formula. She slept great last night though, so I was able to get a little shut eye, and today has been pretty much back to normal for her so far so...lol hopefully we've made it through the worst of it!
Needless today, with all of that I didn't get pictures for her 8th week of life. But I took a video today so hopefully this can tied y'all over for a while. I'm gonna try to get out Halloween pics up soon so that you guys can see how cute we were!
Until later!
Jen
