Participation is Great!

I thought I would try to start being a little bit more pro-active in the Mil-Spouse blogging community, and do a little bit more to have some posts on here where I'm not complaining. :) Anyway, Wife of a Sailor is holding a "fill-in Friday" and I thought I'd join in. Here are the questions and my answers:
  1. Tell us about your dream job… one that you could do regardless of pay. I think I'm already doing my dream job...despite the fact that my kids drive me crazy at moments, I've always wanted to be a wife and mother....since I was little. It wasn't until I got into high school and felt that it was expected of me to have ambitions other than that that I started to look into other "careers" that I would be interested in. I also do have a slight desire to write a novel someday. Writing a book is WAY different then blogging, but at least blogging allows me to get my writer's itch scratched!
  2. What is your most prized material possession (kids and pets don’t count!)? This is kind of sad...I'm a very active Latter Day Saint ( or Mormon) so I should say " my scriptures". But in reality I have several sets, and I know I could get more if they were lost. So really, the possession that I have that means the most to me is my engagement ring. It's BEAUTIFUL first of all, and is something I want to save to pass down to my children or grandchildren. Also...it's a little piece of my husband I wear on me every day. It's my connection to him, and I wear it proudly. I think I'd die if I ever lost it...
  3. What has been your favorite duty station and why? I miss South Carolina a lot...for several reason. I miss being in school versus sea duty :) I miss the great beaches, I miss historical downtown Charleston. Plus...I got married there, got pregnant and had my first child there...I'm pretty emotionally attached to South Carolina. But we're only on our second duty station so...I don't really have much to compare it to!
  4. What is your least favorite household chore? I HATE the dishes. My husband and I actually promised each other when we got married that he would always do the dishes and I would always do the laundry, the chore he hates. :) It hasn't worked out that way yet...I do dishes and he does laundry because we're often apart from each other (duh!) Maybe someday we'll be able to keep that promise to each other!
  5. If you could give one piece of advice to a teenager today (not specifically a MilTeen), what would it be? I think I would tell them to be brave and go outside of their comfort zone more. I was surprised after I graduated how much of LIFE went on around me that I never really paid attention to in high school! You're so self-centered at a teen...I think if I could have broken out of that frame of mind I probably would have enjoyed life a little bit more as a teenager. :)
until next time,

I've never visited South Carolina as an adult (drove through it as a kid). I would LOVE to visit it!

Thanks for participating and I hope you join us next week!

Oh, and I totally just realized you are a submariners wife... maybe we'll meet at a duty station in the future!

I love Charleston and South Carolina too! We're in Georgia, right on the border with South Carolina and I wish we lived on the other side... :) I love your advice to teens. Oh and I'm your newest follower!

Gunlover's Mom lives in the Columbia area, and I think it's really pretty around there too.

I'm also very attached to my engagement/wedding rings. Something was wrong with the setting, and the diamond fell out one day. I cried so hard until someone actually spotted.
