What's Your song?

Oh my gosh...last week, Amber at Goodnight Moon had the BRILLIANT idea of having a music blog-link up! I had so much fun listening to everyone's pick, and I found quiet a few songs that I hadn't heard before ( I've been slightly stale with my music for a little while I guess!) and it helped me remember some great songs I used to love but forgot about! So thank you Amber, for revitalizing my play list!!

I'll admit it, I'm nearing the end of my husbands deployment and so I am pretty darn sentimental these days. The song I picked this week is a song I used to listen to ALL the time right before we got married. I actually suggested using this as our wedding song, but Skunky is a bit more traditional then this song really allowed! My husband and I have an...'interesting' back story ( if you're curious, I happen to be in the middle of telling our story and you can start here) and it was a very long road to becoming what we are today. The lyrics that always really spoke to me in this song are these:

Now that we're here,
It's so far away
All the struggle we thought was in vain
All the mistakes,
One life contained
They all finally start to go away
Now that we're here its so far away
And I feel like I can face the day
I can forgive and I’m not ashamed to be the person that I am today

They stood out to me because I did feel ashamed of part of my past, especially when it came to Skunky. I didn't ( don't) deserve him. But he loved me anyway. And all the mistakes that I made....they went away in him. Blah! Probably a little bit deeper then Amber first intended this to go but...

I can't help it! It's the music!

Ahhh...don't feel that way! You both DESERVE one another! I can guarentee that he feels the same about you especially him being able to see your stregnth through this deployment. I think at the end of a deployment, we all get SUPER emotional thinking about so many things, past and present. Deployments do that to us.

Great song choice, and I loved the story you told to back the song up. Thanks so linking up! See you next week. And keep your chin up!!!!

Years ago, I saw him live in concert. Just Aaron and his guitar. He's a powerful songwriter. I like this song. Thanks for linking up. :)
